Martin Public Schools serves approximately 602 K-12 students and their families. Our school community consists of the Village of Martin and portions of six townships, in two counties. Although Martin is a rural district, it is in close proximity to the metropolitan areas of Kalamazoo and Grand Rapids.
Our District is guided by a strategic planning process to assist the school leadership in setting goals for school improvement. "Data 2 Results" (a process developed by the Michigan Association of School Boards) was implemented in the summer and fall of 2006 with the input of staff, students, and community members. Data gathered in the course of implementation will be tracked and updated annually. Many important instructional and management decisions are based on this data. The District is also guided by NCA Accreditation standards.
The curriculum at all grade levels stresses the fundamentals of education. Brandon Elementary School provides a sound foundation for academic success with the Great Start Readiness Program, Young Fives, and all day/every day Kindergarten. At the high school level there are opportunities for students to take Advanced Placement classes, pursue Vocational-Technical training, and build character through community service. Our extra-curricular program offers a competitive interscholastic athletic program with opportunities for all students to compete.
